Since everyone nowadays seems to have a USB powered device like an iPhone or Blackberry or Droid or iPod, being away from an accessible source of power is a big pain in the butt. As many of us spend time in our cars, it’s only natural to have some way to easily charge your devices there. Many new cars already have USB ports or other types of power supplies, but what about those of us that are in older vehicles?

Well, iLuv has a few options available for those types of situations: the iLuv Micro-sized USB Car Charger and the iLuv Dual USB Car Charger are two of these.

First a little information about the Micro-sized charger. This is the one that I’m actually using in my car currently.

It is quite small and fits almost flush within a cigarette or power adapter within your car. When it is plugged in and powered, a small blue light is shown. It is not a distractive blue but it is good to have so that you know that the power adapter is fully plugged into the socket. It handles 12-24V DC input and will output 5V, 500mA DC. It has a power consumption of 3.3W and weighs about 0.3 oz (not that weight really matters). Remember, you do have to supply your own USB cable.

There are a bazillion cell phone cases on the market (yes that is a real word, bazillion, my spell checker seemed to allow it). Cases are such a subjective type of thing, it is hard to say one is much better than another. What may be great for one person is not for another. I have a bunch of cases that I simply haven’t used because I have a battery/case solution that doesn’t allow another case to be put on top. No matter though, I can play with some of the cases anyway.

iSkin has a HUGE selection of cases (cell phone, computer & iPod cases) to choose from. I received a few cases to test out, namely the Vibes for BlackBerry Bold, the Revo2 for the iPhone and the Solo for the iPhone.

The Vibe has a couple of unique feature that caught my attention, namely:

  • Embedded Microban antimicrobial protection
  • Soft, jell-like protection
  • Full access to your controls & keyboard
  • Clear camera & flash guard

When I was approached to review the Homedics Restore Clean Water System, I wasn’t really sure if it would be techy or geeky enough for me to review it. After all, it is just a water filter, right? The only thing that made me want to dig a bit more into it was the fact that it actually has a power cord so I was curious as to how that would make any difference in water filtering.

While I don’t want this article to be an infomercial, it does make sense to provide video information about the product (so forgive the mini ad here), as I don’t think that I can pull off the same type of video review:

Just watching the video is sort of soothing, I mean soft music, clean colors and crisp water. Anyway…
