Like High-End Speakers for your Stereo, the 27″ BenQ PD2700U 4K Monitor Makes Your Computer Excel – Review

In Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Review, Technology by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

I remember when record players and vinyl records were popular that a sales person told me that much of your investment should be made on the actual needle for the record player. (And, since vinyl is back, that same advice holds true.) The needle is what brings out the quality of the groves in the record. And, obviously, having a bad set of speakers means that you are not getting the best quality sound. Needle and speakers. In much the same way, if you have a great computer (Mac or PC) but your monitor is sub-par, you are not getting the best multimedia experience possible. And, you could possibly be causing eye strain and fatigue. My advice for computer users, get a great monitor like the BenQ PD2700U. (*Disclosure below.)

If you work in an office, you probably spend more than eight hours a day staring at your screen. And, if you are like me, your eyes get tired, red, dry, and irritated, and you may even get headaches. This could be due to many factors like stress or too much work or something as simple as not blinking enough to moisturize your eyes. (I actually now use moisturizing drops.) But another cause may be your monitor. If the refresh rate is too low or there is some flicker going on (sometimes you can’t even see it), this can be causing eye strain. A high-quality monitor, like the BenQ PD2700U, can actually relieve some eye strain.

Mother’s Day Gift: Nixplay Seed Wave 13-Inch Digital Frame with Bluetooth Speakers Review

In Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Review, Technology by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

I have been a huge fan of Nixplay’s digital frame offerings for several years. Not only do I have multiple frames around my home and office, but my parents have Nixplay frames as well in their homes, and we can send the latest and greatest “teen-approved” photos to those frames remotely. So I was thinking, how could they make their products that were already great even better? Well, there are two ways: with a newly upgraded app and with a new WiFi-connected frame that also has a Bluetooth speaker built in: the Nixplay Seed Wave. And, what a perfect gift to give moms for Mother’s Day! (*Disclosure below.)

Home Is The Key – But Not Everyone Has the Key to Affordable Housing

In Family, General, Sponsored by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

Home ownership is truly a luxury. It shouldn’t be, but it is. Even those who are blessed with home ownership struggle to keep it. In fact, over 19 million U.S. households allocate more than half of their income on the cost of home ownership. And, this comes at a price and with tough decisions as well. Do you pay for healthcare? Is your child’s education being covered to ensure opportunities in the future? And what about getting to and from your job so that you can cover all of those household expenses. (*Disclosure below.)

Naztech Power Hub4 Review: Power Bank Charging for Micro USB, Lightning, Fast Charge & USB Type-C Devices

In Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Review, Technology by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

If you are anything like my family, you have a bunch of smartphones or tablets that are charged each and every night. In our household, all of my kids’ devices are actually charged up in our bedroom in an attempt to ensure that they aren’t on their iPhones late into the night. While I have a unique charging solution for their iPhones (which I will briefly explain a bit later), there is an area that requires three plugs for their Apple lightning chargers. But with the Naztech Power Hub4, I not only get to eliminate some of the plug requirements but also, have all of their iPhones charging in an organized manner. (*Disclosure below.)

Review: the BenQ ScreenBar Lite Brings a Portable Bubble of Warm or Cool LED Lighting To Your Laptop

In Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Review, Technology by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

The BenQ ScreenBar Lite is the latest and greatest addition to the ScreenBar family. A while back, I reviewed the ScreenBar and then a few months later, the ScreenBar Plus (which my wife completely loves, and I’m quite jealous of). But now, it’s my turn to be the subject of envy with BenQ’s latest computer lighting solution, the ScreenBar Lite (and I love the play on words here…lite versus light). All three of the products provide you with a useful, unobtrusive, and elegant way to light up your desktop environment. And now, with the ScreenBar Lite, you have that same lighting solution in a mobile form factor, designed to bask your laptop’s keyboard in dimmable, cool or warm LED lighting. (*Disclosure below.)
