Forget Holiday Shopping! Win the GRAND PRIZE – HighTechDad’s Gift-a-Day Giveaway (Day 5)

grand_prize_shot

Boy, this giving away of free stuff is hard work (actually it is, writing posts and all)! But it sure feels rewarding. While I would have loved to have kept many of the items that I have been giving out, there are many people out there who deserve it for one reason or another. So that is why I’m doing this. Again, I’m not in this for anything really. You don’t have to follow me on Twitter (I want that process to be as organic as possible). Sure, I ask for some traffic to my blog, but that will be gone after I give all of the stuff away. However, it would be great if you read through some of my content and perhaps subscribe to my RSS feed and come back and visit.

  3. So I ran across this guy, his name is Michael, some call him Santa. He gives away things that others have given to him (kinda weird if you ask me). Does Michael not like to receive gifts or is it a way for him to get attention? Everyone wants to see what Michael has to say so people are coming from all around the land to see what there is today. They are all hoping to take home the grandest prize of all, phone cases, hard drives and games for the Wii. I am pretty sure Michael wont fit down my chimney and I doubt he flies around the world on Christmas eve delivering presents to all the good little girls and boys but I sure hope he picks my comment over everyone else so I can have a little Christmas cheer at my house again this year. Thanks Michael aka Santa :-)

  4. I want to win this prize package so that I can use all fun toys while waiting in my waiting room at my doctor's office. I have a lot of appointments and this would make the time fly and put a smile on my face. It's been quite a year! Here is my twitter id @romapr09

  7. I aspire to be a High Tech Dad. I think I should win so my kids won't have to continue to be embarrassed by my low techness. You're a Dad… I'm sure you can feel my pain. I just want my kids to love me and winning this contest would point me in the right direction. I might not know how to use it all ( or even pronounce it all ) but I can sure carry it and look cool. I have two teenage daughters and my relationship with them hangs in the balance. My coolness is in your hands HTD kaw1618@gmail.com

  8. i would like to win because i have 9 kids which 5 are teen agers and we all know how that is (all they want is stuff and more stuff) but this would be great as some xmas presents.

  9. If I were to win, I can give these away to my nieces and nephews, so I can be the “cool” uncle instead of the one who buys them sweaters and savings bonds (practical and useful, but definitely not “cool”). Twitter ID: pormanch

  10. I should win because it is taking me forever to find the specific page to leave my creative comment, sheesh I hope I am there, LOL

  11. This would be wonderful for my family and kids! Everything is tech related and we just aren't able to keep up with any of it anymore! This would make CHristmas absolutely wonderful for the kids!!!

  12. What a great time of year to get high tech, because right now, my retirements a wreck. I need some distraction with that Blackberry, especially for free, my wife would envy me. Kids would love me so much with that free itouch. The pink iphone would make her blush. All would be good to win a giveaway, so we can be high tech on Christmas day.

  13. hi hightechdad,

i wish my dad was as cool as you, i mean you actually know how to use a computer and not only that your good at it. then theres the fact you give stuff away for absolutly free, WICKED!

thats why i wish my dad was as cool as you,

thanks so much for doing this for us.

    joe

  14. you're giving 'extra' entries for tweeting? but you're looking for the 'best entry.' that makes no sense. are you randomly drawing a winner or are you picking the one that you like the most?

  15. I'm not giving extra entries for tweeting. If people only leave their twitter account, that is how I notify them. I do randomly select (I have an iPhone app that gives me a random number based on the number of comments on the blog post). However, I have to remove the duplicate entries and the ones that don't leave any type of contact info (e.g., twitter or email). I look solely at the comments for the selection.

  16. Dear HTD,

I'm writing to you this Christmas season to ask for some great gadgets gifts for me and my family. Santa Claus has failed miserably year after year and you're my only hope to salvage our Christmas this year. The WD hard drive would be perfect addition to store back-ups and utilities when I have to help friends and family with tech problems over the holidays (because we all know how diligent family members are with keeping their computers up to date). The XBox and Wii games would be a perfect distraction for me and my boys during the cold winter nights here in the midwest (because it doesn't snow just in Texas). The pink iPhone case would be perfect for my wife so she can show everyone she's high tech and chic. The candy shell for the 2G iPod Touch would be great to protect my precious Touch from my overly curious 2y old. And the Speck PortPack is just what we need to keep our laptops safe on those bumpy roads when going over the river and through the woods back to Grandma's house for dinner Christmas night.

So please HTD, please help me make our Christmas a happy one this year. Thank you!!!

  17. If I were to win this fantastic collection of prizes I would enjoy some of them myself and I would, as they say “pay it forward” as well and ensure they went to those would enjoy them. For example, my friend has 4 children and in process of an awful separation – the Wii and DS games would go to them. The other two games would be gifted for my brother – who is in the Canadian Armed Forces. I'm certain he would enjoy both and would be surprised I finally sent him something he likes :). As for the Speck Pixel Port and Passport TechStyle – I would definitely rock this myself! I am enamoured with Speck products and have several gadgets looking for a “spexy” place to live – especially my 13” macbook pro. I am constantly carrying my macbook to and from school or Starbucks (I use it as my library) and my current bag is very sad:(. Maybe this would help me look as “spexy” as my macbook??? (protected by Speck SeeThru case). The ipod cases would be used and (I'm certain) loved for sometime on several of my devices. If lucky enough to win to this amazing giveaway – I would upload my thoughts on the items (non re-gifted) and ensure that everyone knew who and where they came from!

  18. Great Christmas stocking stuffers … wouldn't mind winning this it would nice for the whole family

  19. Oh boy! This would make my year to win this! I can think of someone on my Christmas list who would LOVE all of this neat stuff!

  20. Well, I just finished moving my television out of the living room so that I could move a piece of my sectional sofa out of the family room so that the chaise could be moved over in order to fit the Christmas Tree in the corner of the room. As you can see, my holidays begin on a hectic note. It would be great to have them end by me winning this great prize!

  21. Hello! I'm new to this whole blogosphere contest giveaway thing but here it goes! I've actually been interning at a PR firm and I've been exposed to this whole world of social media. I mean, of course I had a facebook, but I never knew the extent of all the information that is out there. It's amazing. The things that are being blogged about and the prizes that are being givin away. Anyway. I've been working with the Zeo (I dont know if you've heard about it – BUT ITS AWESOME – and you'd love it – all techies do!) And I came across your blog while looking for technology people to go contact. Anyway, I'm not here about the zeo ! But I love your giveaway! With the holiday season coming up, and being an UNPAID intern and college student, I don't have much free time to get a job and be able to afford some great Christmas gifts for my family. They've helped a LOT. Going to Boston College is an expensive investment and I'd love to be able to give my parents and brother something great for the holidays. I hope to win! nevertheless, have a great holiday with your family and hopefully one day your three girls will be able to enter some awesome blog contests to win a prize for you and your family members :)

  22. 'Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house,
All that was stirring was my computer mouse.
The stockings were hung by the desktop with care.
In hopes that High Tech Dad soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
    While visions of iPods danced in their heads;
And mamma with her iPhone and I with my laptop,
Had just settled down to search the net and it stopped!
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I tore myself from the screen to see what was the matter,
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But High Tech Dad with a boat load of techy gear!
He spoke not a word, but went straight to work,
Filling all the stockings faster than a video store clerk.
I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good byte!

  23. I would like to win because i'm always looking for fun things to do with my kids. We would have a blast with the Hot Wheels Battle Force and I would look like a hero giving all these wonderful things to my family, and who doesn't love to be the hero. I might even buy a cape when I give it to them.

  24. Well, I really would like to win the video games for my son. Seems someone with sticky fingers managed to clean him out and now he has no more games to play and of course no more xbox 360 either. I did manage to get him a replacement 360 for Xmas, so the games would greatly be appreciated. I know, sounds like a poor ole sob story, but true it is none the less. Thanks for the chance to win some awesome prizes!

  25. So, I just got back from taking my dear sweet husband to get that Vasectomy I mentioned earlier. He and the surgeon apparently have different definitions of “fun.” He is determined to call the medical board and petition for that procedure to be done under General instead of Local Anesthetic. To do otherwise is at best barbaric and at worst Medieval ;-) He is thankful though that he didn't have to come home wearing the “cone of shame” like our fur-son did when he had a similar procedure. These items would definitely make him feel a little bit better about the torture he endured ;-)

In all seriousness though, I'd love to win the Grand Prize to be able to give the father of my 3 wonderful kids and once of the most caring, honest and funny men I know something for himself for Christmas. I am/was a teacher and have been laid off for over a year now (the day I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd child, gotta love bureaucrats!) so Christmas will be very meager. Thankfully my children are small enough that I can wrap up some of the toys they haven't played with in a while and it will be all “new” to them. But I'd really like to give the guy that never asks for anything a spiffy present.

  26. So I bought my Grandma an iPod Touch 2G. She likes it. The icons are big. But she keeps loosing it. Her cracked hands slick with glycerin makes the iPod Touch like a bar of soap. Sometimes it jumps for her coffee. She needs to get a grip. And some extra stuff to give away would make her feel wealthy for the holidays.

  27. I would love to win this prize pack because we have a Wii, 2 X-Box 360's, and 2 DS's, but we do not have any of these games. After Christmas, someone in my household will also own an iPod touch, so we could make good use of most of the items and what we can't use, we will share.

  28. I would give the video games to my grandma to help her to have Christmas gifts for all of her grandchildren.

  29. (10:32 am) I would like…no LOVE to win this for two major reasons. The first is that I'm lazy. We're not talking the I don't feel like going to work kind of lazy but rather the “it's too much work for me to order these things on Amazon” kind of lazy. As a matter of fact, I'm going to take a nap now as this is just too much work for me to finish ATM.

(1:11 pm) Ok, I'm back and my nap has refreshed me to the point that I can try to finish.

Secondly I would LOVE to win this due to the fact that I smell. I'm pretty sure that everyone at the store where I might wobble through would thank you as well. Don't get me wrong I do bathe, I just can't be bothered to do it more than once a month and with Christmas being on the 25th this year it's a few days before my months cleansing. I didn't plan it this way, honest. Well once again I'm pooped and need a nap…I'll post this after I wake.

  30. These are some of the best new items and your kindness to pass them out as gifts is very kind on your part.

  31. My fiancee has no feet. She had them amputated last summer. I lost my job last April, and we could use some of these items so that she can escape from me from time to time.

  32. Wow, that's a pretty good assortment of items. The PortPack and the TechStyle would we awesome. Of course, if I won, I would have to pay it forward by gifting a couple of the items to those who could really use them :)

  33. I would love to win this so I could give the stuff away as gifts to family and friends. My brother would me so happy if he got the Raven Squad game for the wii.

  34. I deserve to win! You know why? Because I'm the Geeky Daddy of the Year. Love Me and only ME! Stand in my way and be struck down fear my battle cry… FOR PONY!!!!!! No really I want this lol.

  35. It was early December 2009, most people were excited for the Holiday season, their favorite holiday was on its way and the times couldn't be better. It was the sense of family, sharing and tradition that would bring so many families together, and at least, for one or two nights, help them forget any of the tragedies occurring to them that year. Millions worry what type of gifts they must provide to their family members, whether it be to compete and gain the title of 'Best Uncle/Aunt' or simply to make their nieces and nephews happy. However, when it comes down to it, the gifts are just a bonus to Christmas, no matter how tough a family has it, they always find a way to celebrate the best Christmas possible.

It is people like HighTechDad and countless others who through their kindness and support help make the holiday season more enjoyable for those which have been put in an unfavorable situation. As stated above, winning a gift pack of this size would help out- there is really something for every child, with the protective phone cases being possible gifts to older relatives. In my case, these gifts aren't something that I would use particularly, but they are something I'm sure close relatives would like, and having just to wrap them up and hand them out would make life much simpler.

Whether or not I win, the fact that someone has taken the time to collect or provide these items to those who need them more is what needs to be acknowledged- Christmas brings out the best in people, and it is a demonstration of solidarity and humanity when the less well off and looked after and cared for by those who are better off.

I personally want to thank Michael Sheehan, because I'm sure he's help out many people whether it be for personal use or to give something out as a gift with his Candyshell giveaway, Speck Aftpack giveaway and the others which he provided so selflessly. Best wishes from my family to yours- once again, thank you very much.

  38. Wow another awesome giveaway. I almost missed out I have been so busy trying to prep my house to get ready to sell but with 2 year old triplets running around it is a lot of work. With me in the process of relocating to a new state at the start of the new year this holiday shopping is going to be hard to find time to do but winning this would cut some of my shopping down for sure. Thanks for a chance at winning. Good luck to everyone. My Twitter name is @jst4tim

    Happy Holidays

  39. And here is my “creative” entry as to why I want to win this giveaway.

    ———————————————————————————————————————————————-
And there I was, my heart beating faster and faster, a clear lack of breath grasping at each last drop of life consuming oxygen as though they were a policeman in a donut shop. *Thud* *Thump* I could hear them, they weren’t far off. To be honest, I’m not even sure how I made it this far. Why? Why am I still alive? There were others more intelligent, stronger, and even those who had sharper instincts. So why… why was I still alive? What was it that made me so special?

I could hear the crashing of metal cabinets and cans beating against the floor like the waves against rocks. The lights began to flicker as I made my way from store to store in what was left of the local mall. Their growls could be heard floating on the air from all over the city. *laughs* Yeah, it’s finally happened. We’ve all seen those movies, you know, those movies by that Romero guy with the zombies rising up and eating people. Yeah, I wish it was like that. What I’d do for a slow, scrawny, decomposing zombie right about now. No… what I’ve got to deal with is worse, much worse. Mother freaking Santa Zombies… yea, you heard me, Santa zombies.

Don’t ask me how it happened; don’t ask me who’s to blame. I don’t know. All I know is I’ve got 300 lbs of jolly cheer hot on my tail and the only way to stop them is with gifts. Strange, right? Tell me about it. 300lbs of pure jolly killing machine… they can see in the dark, smell you from 800 yards away and move faster than my Buick on a cold winter’s morning. But that’s it. Those jolly son of a guns seem to have a bone to pick with everyone for the years of service in malls and stores all across the world; listening to kid after kid present their list of demands and leave the jolly ol’ man with a wet lap. Apparently it’s our turn now… our turn. These mindless beasts aren’t willing to just leave it be. And nobody’s stopped one yet. As far as I’ve seen they are near invulnerable. Shot after shot, pound after pound, they always get up and keep coming. But you drop a gift their way and they stop dead in their tracks.

No, I’m not the fastest guy ever. Nor am I the strongest or the smartest. I’m the man looking for gifts and keeping everyone else alive. And that is why I want to win this giveaway. One more present means one more chance at a tomorrow.
