The BEST Product I Have Ever Reviewed is…Nothing!

In Gadgets, General, Hardware, Humor, Review by Michael Sheehan7 Comments

This product review is about Nothing. I was lucky enough to receive the prototype today of Nothing, the next version in the Nada product line. I must say that parent company Niente has really done an amazing job distilling the product features from mere thoughts on the paper to the spacey splendor of this release. I was incredibly thrilled unboxing Nothing. While I was a bit apprehensive as I was doing it, Nothing was in the box, carefully and elegantly presented. It was simply amazing. The designers must have spent countless hours crafting the packaging for Nothing as well as …

Yep, we’re baaaack! Have you ever tried to organize the lives of 5 busy dads who are dispersed across the country and time zones? The image of herding cats comes to mind. The desire to record our Cast of Dads podcast is there, the free time, however, is not. Yeah, excuses, excuses. We did manage to all get on a call about a week ago and chat through a variety of topics though, and were able to record Cast of Dads Podcast #57, “Lemon Flavored Ant Butts.” I always feel that half an hour is simply not enough time to …

The Ford Fiesta Movement is Back! And Here’s My Entry! #FiestaMovement

In Auto, Family, Ford, General, Humor, Opinion, Video by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

Piggybacking on the success of the previous Ford Fiesta Movement a few years ago, Ford is re-launching the Fiesta Movement (www.fiestamovement.com) to showcase the 2014 Ford Fiesta. Ford is currently looking for “the most vibrant voices and talented storytellers to be agents in the Fiesta Movement.” So, I figured that I would throw my hat into the ring! I do lots of car reviews and have participated in a few Ford programs in the past so being a Fiesta Agent makes a lot of sense to me. But as I watched some of the promotional materials about this year’s program, …

Can You Have a Love Affair with a Gadget?

In Apple, Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Humor, iPad, Opinion, Software, Tablet by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

“I’m in love with the iPad Mini” I proclaimed proudly to my wife. I didn’t expect the response (well, I did in a way). “You cannot be in love with a gadget.” That was that. End of discussion. I had been hoping to start a conversation about why I like the iPad Mini so much or why it is better than other gadgets I have played with. I guess that my opening line might work with non-materialistic goods (e.g., “I’m in love with our dog”) – but even that might sound a bit odd. I probably should have said “I …

Are You Ready For Some Football and the Next Episode of the Cast of Dads Podcast?

In Audio, Cast of Dads, General, Humor, Opinion, Parenting, PodCast by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

I simply love this time of year, that of the football playoffs and the biggest game of the year, the Super Bowl! While I don’ t have that much time to really follow sports, I have spent the past 35 years in the San Francisco Bay Area and consequently am a San Francisco 49ers fan (and SF Giants as well when it’s baseball season). Also, before they moved the football season out a week or two, the Super Bowl used to fall on or around my birthday. In fact, I remember back in 1985, Super Box XIX was held in …

How to Be a Kid Again – An Adult’s Primer with Some Help from Klutz!

I will bet you that I can read your mind…even via a blog post. Quick, think of a country (English name only) that starts with the letter “D.” Now take the last letter of that country and think of an animal that starts with that letter. Ok, now take the last letter of that animal, and think of a fruit that starts with that letter. Are you thinking of an… Interestingly, on every adult that I tested this out on, they had the same answer. And I appeared to be a mind reader! This is just one trick that is …

So there is now a meme going around after the launch of the iPhone 5 with its longer body (now with 5 rows of icons). The meme shows new pictures of the iPhone “10” which shows a huge number of rows of icons. As the summer starts to wind down, the Cast of Dads convened via the phone waves again to record another laughter-fill and educational podcast, “Orangutan Hang and the Olympics.” With just days to the start of the Summer Olympics 2012 in London, we believe we might have figured out another Olympic sport – the Orangutan Hang – but you will have to listen to the podcast to understand what it was all about. Episode #53 ran the gamut of topics, anywhere from talking about DEET, West Nile Virus and popping mosquitos, to really enjoying Olympic warmups understanding driving distractions and …

We all know that laughing is healthy. It’s good for both the heart and the soul. Well, in the Father’s Day (or should I say Daddy’s Day) Episode #52 (“Laugh Filled Father’s Day“) of the Cast of Dads, we definitely came out very healthy as it was one of the most laughter-filled episodes that we have ever recorded! This episode was recorded right before Father’s Day and we each talked about plans or lack there of on the day devoted to Dads. We also talked about our Mother’s Day winner giveaway of the Motorola Droid RAZR (so be sure to …

Mother’s Day Motorola RAZR Madness with the Cast of Dads – Brady Bunch Style!

As part of the forces driving the Cast of Dads to greatness, we are always looking for corporate sponsors who are looking to have engaging, innovative and even funny promotion of their products or services. For Mother’s Day this year, Motorola sponsored our most recent episode of the Cast of Dads (we even hosted a giveaway). As part of our sponsorship, all of the Dads were loaned DROID RAZR and we were told that the sky was the limit for what we could do with these snazzy Android smartphones. The only requirement was that we create some sort of a …

Celebrating our 50th Cast of Dads Podcast! “Draining the Snowblower”

In Audio, Cast of Dads, Consumer Electronics, Family, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Humor, Opinion, Parenting, PodCast by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

It’s really hard to believe that over 2 years ago, a group of dads who worked together on a project would now be celebrating their 50th podcast together! But yes, we have. Personally, I think that is a major accomplishment, especially given all of the other family and business responsibilities that tug us in each and every direction. The Cast of Dads made it though, and we are now setting our eyes on episode #100! Episode #50, “Draining the Snowblower” contains a lot of excitement, humor and fun programs that many of us are working on like CC heading to …

Well, we cranked up the old podcaster again, this time with less time between episodes. While it may have been just me, I think we all could have used some coffee (or alcohol) to get us really into gear. But still, we always have a great time talking about just about anything that pops into our minds. Episode #49 “Remembering the First Time“ podcast of Cast of Dads is no different. We ran the gamut of topics, starting with March Madness, spinning through some conferences that some of us attended, robotics, Big Wheels, professional gamblers and what is the best …

So, the digital dogs ate the last podcast that we did. Really! Those cyber-gremlins got the better of us. This time, however, we leashed those dogs and we captures all 5 of us in our crazy glory in Episode 48 of the Cast of Dads, “Movies, Meatloaf & Memes”! But yes, we have really had a hard time getting together, just for a phone call. In this episode though, we started up right where we left off, it seems, and it was really hard to stop at 30 minutes. We definitely had a lot to say in this show with …

As I mentioned earlier, I’m now doing a daily article on Babble.com’s new “Dadding” site. Since I feel that there is actually some of my better humorous content over there, I thought it would make sense to share the content with my HighTechDad readers. I’m going to start these regular weekly recaps with a full monthly summary of all of my posts. From here forward, it will most likely just be a weekly recap. Below is a list from newest to oldest. If there are any that you particularly like, let me know and be sure to share them on …
