OpenAI just handed non-coders a way to build actual apps and docs by talking, and gave everyone a wake word to rival Siri, both in the same week. I do a lot of vibe coding. But I’m doing it the ol’ fashioned way, by typing. It feels a bit more real that way. And if I’m writing an email or a document, yes, I type it out (for the most part – editing and reviews do get some AI help).
The only time I use Siri by voice is in the car. Call me old. But I have seen people older than me only use voice for just about everything when it comes to Siri. So, having ChatGPT with a “wake word” is a smart move by OpenAI. I just think that “chat” is a bit too common to have as a wake word. I think shows and advertisements are going to be triggering ChatGPT all over the place.
