I currently have much older versions of Schlage keypad locks in use at my home. These are more traditional keypad locks; one is PIN-based, and the other has PIN authentication but also connects to my Smart Home. They are incredibly convenient and have been solid performers over the past decade.
The one thing I’m a bit concerned about is the authentication process. I have not tested this new version of the Schlage, so I cannot speak from experience. If proximity alone unlocks the lock, I would be concerned. If it can be authenticated via an app locked behind Face ID, that would be ideal. But I believe there is a PIN and NFC for other types of authentication, so this is good.
If you have ever stood at the front door with full hands waiting for your Bluetooth smart lock to notice you, the Schlage Sense Pro’s UWB auto-unlock is exactly what that frustrating experience has been waiting for.
