HTD Roundup: Snippets of Tech that I have been playing with
It's been a while since my last post so I figured I would do yet another laundry list of things that I have been doing and technology I have been reviewing: Updated my Blog Theme to Redoable 1.2 - still a work in progress as there are some issues preventing me from showing what I had previously MAMP 1.6 -…

Find your path through Wikipedia using Pathway
Okay Mac/Wikipedia users, this one is for you. Have you ever found yourself lost navigating through the incredible amount of links and cross links within Wikipedia? It's truly hard to use the back button to go back and forth throughout Wikipedia when your exploration is truly multi-layered. You need a breadcrumb trail and a way to link all of the…

NeoOffice 2.1 released – MS Office for Mac replacement
If you are tired of paying for Microsoft Office for Mac, you have had an alternative for some time, that of OpenOffice. The "problem" with OpenOffice is that you have to have X11 (a windowing environment) installed on your Mac. And it looks like a "port" from Windows. Enter NeoOffice. NeoOffice was updated to 2.1 on March 26th, 2007. NeoOffice…

Save precious hard drive space on your Mac
If you are like me, disk space is a precious commodity. I tend to download gobs and gobs of software and never clean it up. Pictures and MP3's can suck up a lot of space on your computer as well. How do you manage your disk space? Well, I found a great little (free) application that can potentially save you…

Check your server DST settings using PERL
The new Daylight Saving Time is almost upon us. My company is losing money now on all of the IT updates that we have to do (but that is another story, in fact, I read today that some Economic Analysts now think that the change will not save energy/money because while people won't be using as much electricity in the…

Loving this new WP theme!
This is really a nicely designed theme. It has a series of built in Sidebar widgets, clean implementations of style guides and all sorts of nice eye candy. It also has built in paragraph classes for specific tags. The site is located here. It seems to have quite a following. I'm slowly starting to get some of my old customizations…

WordPress Theme change in progress…
I found a great theme for my blog (as you can probably see if you aren't just reading the feed). So, I'm in the process of updating plugin and other items within it. Hang in there, beautification is in process!

Blog updated to WordPress 2.1
You are now viewing my site on WP 2.1. It was a relatively painless upgrade (following the instructions on WordPress.org)...but I use the term "relatively" very loosly. When I first tried to run the upgrade script, I got an error (that I had seen before): Warning: main(/blahblahblah/wp-content/ advanced-cache.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /blahblahbla/wp-settings.php…

New WordPress release (version 2.1) and other stuff
Once again, it's been a while since I posted. I've been deep in "geek-dom" mainly related to Cell Phone. My wife's old Blackberry (7100t) died so I got a Blackberry 8700c off of eBay and she is now up and running on that! It's a great device actually. My biggest issues was a little trick that I forgot to do…

WordPress updated to 2.06
So, I updated my blog to 2.06...didn't really notice anything that new or changed about it. According to wordpress.org, here is what has changed: We have a pretty important release available for everyone, it includes an important security fix and it’s recommended that everyone upgrade. This is the latest release in our stable 2.0 line, which we’ve committed to maintaining…

Just installed Drupal 5 RC1
And I want to see if I can post my writing to the BlogAPI. This is just a test. Updated...didn't seem to work. I need to do some digging around to figure this out. Drupal looks pretty good though. I was able to Syndicate this blog and then push over the blog posts to the main page. My Drupal site…

AppleJack for OSX (Geek Alert!)
Next in line is a piece of software for all of the Mac users out there. I'm sure that you take good care of your mac from a maintenance perspective (you do, right?)...you install the Apple Software Updates, periodically run the Disk Repair utility, repair your permissions, and generally don't abuse your system. There are lots of tools that you…
