Apple’s new lease program makes owning the latest hardware more accessible, but quietly dropping AppleCare is a trade-off many people will miss until they need it. I have been using the Apple Upgrade plan for quite a long time. It’s like leasing a car. For those people who want the latest and greatest versions and don’t want to worry about the maintenance, that’s the way to go. For me, Apple Care is key. I hope I won’t have to re-evaluate this who process.

Apple “Apple Upgrade” Leasing Program Launches July 28, Powered by Klarna
Summary
Apple is launching a new lease-to-own program called Apple Upgrade on July 28, partnering with Klarna. It covers iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch: 24-month terms for iPhone and Watch, and 36-month terms for iPad and Mac. Customers can upgrade early, pay off early, or return the device. It replaces the existing iPhone Upgrade Program but drops AppleCare from the deal.
Why it matters
This is Apple’s closest move yet to a true hardware subscription. The no-AppleCare detail is a meaningful downgrade from the old program, and existing Upgrade members should know about it before switching.
