Apple Is Quietly Working on a Screenless Fitness Band
Apple’s industrial design team is exploring a no-screen fitness band as part of a broader rethink of the Apple Watch lineup, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The company is responding to the growing popularity of screenless fitness trackers and smart rings, with competitors like the Oura Ring putting pressure on the wrist-worn health device market. Gurman describes the internal exploration as Apple taking the category seriously rather than ignoring it, but notes that no specific product has been greenlit for release. Separate from the band, Apple is also considering a round-display Apple Watch at some point in the future, though that, too, remains far from confirmed. The Band project and the round Watch are described as longer-term explorations rather than near-term products.
