Samsung Is Weighing an Early Galaxy Z TriFold 2 After the iPhone Duo’s Arrival
Samsung is reportedly considering moving up the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 timeline after Apple’s iPhone Duo made a strong debut. The original Galaxy Z TriFold launched in late 2025 for $2,899 and was discontinued within three months after complaints about its weight and thickness. The sequel is expected to be meaningfully thinner and lighter, with a price tag close to the original. Samsung had been targeting a mid-2027 launch but is now reportedly exploring whether spring 2027 is achievable.

Meta’s Next Smart Glasses Have No Camera at All
Meta is planning to launch a camera-free pair of Ray-Ban smart glasses, internally code-named Luna, in the fall. Luna ships with six built-in microphones and onboard speakers but no camera, making it a voice-first AI wearable rather than a recording device. A side button activates Meta AI, and the glasses connect to Muse, Meta’s consumer AI agent. Meta could unveil Luna at its Connect developer conference on September 23-24, with shipments targeting October.

Perplexity Portable Computer Arrives on Windows, Runs AI Locally on RTX GPUs
Perplexity has expanded its Portable Computer, a local AI agent that runs entirely on-device, to Windows PCs equipped with NVIDIA RTX GPUs with at least 24GB of VRAM. The tool handles multi-step tasks using local models, keeping sensitive data off the cloud and completing work without consuming Perplexity Computer credits. It installs through the Microsoft Store and is available to Perplexity Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers. The Windows launch follows a debut on Linux and NVIDIA DGX Spark hardware three weeks prior.

Leaked iOS 27 Code Shows Siri Can Route Requests to ChatGPT or Claude
Hidden code in iOS 27 reveals that Apple built a model delegation system that lets Siri route requests to third-party AI models, including ChatGPT and Claude. A developer known as “pdfu” demonstrated two distinct integration methods: a shallow mode where Claude or ChatGPT interprets a request and then hands the resulting action back to Siri to execute, and a deeper mode where a third-party model fully replaces Siri’s server backend and can call Siri’s native system tools directly. Neither mode is public yet. Only the existing ChatGPT extension works in shipping builds of iOS 27.

OpenAI Buys AI Camera Startup Glass Imaging for $300 Million in Hardware Push
OpenAI has acquired Glass Imaging, a smartphone camera technology company founded by former Apple engineers who built Portrait Mode, for more than $300 million. Glass Imaging applies neural networks trained on individual camera systems to improve photo quality at capture time rather than in post-processing. The deal follows OpenAI’s $6.5 billion acquisition of Jony Ive’s io Products in 2025 and adds a deep bench of computational photography talent as the company builds toward consumer hardware products, including a reported AI-first smartphone and a companion device.

Anthropic’s CEO Called for AI Labs to Slow Down, Microsoft Immediately Joined In, and Asian Markets Are Reacting
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a major essay Saturday titled “We Must Pace the Frontier,” calling on major AI labs to deliberately slow capability development until alignment, security, and independent evaluation can keep up. He warned that unchecked AI agent development could cause catastrophic damage in the form of a persistent botnet controlling the internet within 6 to 12 months. Anthropic announced it is giving independent evaluators like METR permanent office access and the right to publish findings without editorial review. On Sunday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella backed the push and unveiled a Code of Conduct for Microsoft’s MAI models. Asian markets responded Monday with SoftBank falling 13%, SK Hynix dropping 5.3%, and Samsung Electronics sliding 2.8%.

Google Workspace Now Lets Gemini Build Docs From Inside Gmail and Draft Emails From Inside Docs
Google rolled out five new agentic AI capabilities for Workspace this week, all designed to eliminate the constant tab-switching that defines most knowledge-worker days. From inside Gmail, Gemini can now build a fully formatted Google Doc from an email thread and its related Drive files without leaving the inbox. From inside Docs, it can draft and send an email summarizing the document using context from the file itself, written in the user’s typical voice. A broader orchestration mode lets users give Gemini a cross-app task from anywhere in Workspace and have it create the Sheets, Slides, or Docs needed to complete it. The rollout started September 2 and is reaching all Google Workspace accounts through mid-September.

macOS Golden Gate Ships Today, Ending Support for Every Intel Mac
macOS Golden Gate, Apple’s twenty-third major Mac operating system release, went live this morning alongside iOS 27. It is the first version of macOS built exclusively for Apple Silicon Macs, ending support for every Intel-based machine. The update still ships with Rosetta 2 so existing Intel-compiled apps can still run on M-series chips, but Golden Gate itself marks the final chapter of that transition. Key additions include the rebuilt Siri AI now available on Mac, cross-device improvements with iPhone, a redesigned Dynamic app grid, and across-the-board performance gains. The update is free for all M1 and later Macs.

Windows 11 Is Finally Getting Nine Bluetooth Fixes in One Update
Microsoft is rolling out preview update KB5124010 for Windows 11 with nine Bluetooth bug fixes. The fixes address audio crashes during Bluetooth streaming, a bug where Bluetooth could get disabled while the Settings toggle still showed it as on, and connection reporting errors with headsets and speakers. The volume control display for Bluetooth accessories is also fixed. The update is in the Insider Release Preview channel for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, with a stable release date not yet confirmed.

Google Killed the Pixel Tablet Without Much Fanfare
Google has discontinued the Pixel Tablet, removing it from the Google Store without any announcement. The device launched in 2023 with a built-in charging speaker dock and never got a second-generation follow-up. Google confirmed to 9to5Google that it has no successor planned, effectively exiting the consumer tablet space. Hub Mode on existing units remains supported.
