Honestly, since I’m a writer, I tend to type out all of my AI prompts. I almost never use voice interaction. The big exception was when I wanted to practice my conversational Spanish before a trip to Spain, and I had conversations in my car with ChatGPT. It actually was quite a great way to re-engage that language part of my brain!
From my understanding, ChatGPT’s new voice finally feels like talking to something that’s actually listening, and it’s free. The ‘mhmm’ thing is a bit much, but it’s a step forward. But will I start doing voice prompting because of it? Probably not. I like the tactile approach to AI. I will wait for voice until we have robots that can do my laundry by voice command. Until then, I type away!
