Apple Raised Prices on Apple Music, Apple One, and iCloud+

Summary

Apple bumped the Apple Music individual plan from $10.99 to $11.99 per month, citing rising licensing costs, in the service’s first price increase since October 2022. The Apple Music Family plan jumped from $16.99 to $19.99. Apple One Family went from $25.95 to $27.95, and the Premier plan moved to $39.95. iCloud+ pricing also increased across multiple countries.

Why it matters

If you subscribe to multiple Apple services, this hits quietly and cumulatively. Families running Apple One Family are now paying $24 more per year than they were a week ago. It is worth opening your subscriptions page and doing a quick audit.

HTD Says

Apple raised prices on Music, Apple One, and iCloud+ all at once a couple of weeks ago. For families deep in the Apple ecosystem, the costs add up fast, so now is a good time to check what you are actually paying versus what you are actually using.

Honestly, I’m not too surprised about this. With a family of 5, I’m all in on “bulk subscription services” like this. We all use most if not all of the services and have been subscribers for a long time. But this day and age when people are watching their budgets, this one hurts a bit.

Couple this with the rise of other Apple products (e.g., Macs and iPhones will get more expensive due to RAM shortages and rising prices), and people are soon going to have to pick and choose what really matters to them. Perhaps make a coffee at home for a couple of days a month, and you can offset these increases (well, maybe not on the cost of hardware but definitely on subscriptions).
