Bose just made it easier to justify a quality pair of noise-canceling headphones by dropping flagship-level ANC to $359, and for anyone who has been eyeing the QuietComfort Ultra but balking at the price, this is the version to look at first. The ANC headphone space is incredibly cluttered with big brand names and plenty of non-name-brand, higher-end devices having the same functionality but at a much lower price point.
Bose has been around forever in this space. Their products are quite good. While I haven’t tested their higher-end versions, I have used some of the mid-range priced ones, and they are more than capable. I have also reviewed a few competitive offerings from non-name-brand companies, and the value for the money is worth seriously considering.
So, while it is nice to see prices drop (even as everything else seems to be going up), you may be able to get the same or similar quality and features from other companies at a price even lower than what Bose announced. If you can, do some comparative testing and shopping before committing to a name brand.
