OpenAI just made ChatGPT a real Google Workspace partner, so if you have been switching between Drive and ChatGPT to get work done, you will no longer have to. Integrations are key to being successful. The less friction a user experiences, the better for adoption.
I have integrated Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive with my various AI apps. Some work well; others do not. I often have to remind AI where a particular file is by pasting the full path to the document into the chat. If these integrations are truly “integrated,” hopefully the AI will do less searching (consuming precious tokens). And being able to create, read, and write is core to working effectively with AI.
The updates and upgrades to any AI seem like watching a ping-pong game, but one where the table is moving around all the time. Just as you get your rhythm down, everything shifts, and you have to reorient yourself. But these AIs are also trying to differentiate with innovative features (as well as some catch-up features like this one). Sigh, I guess I have to go test this Google Drive integration now!
