Google has made the workday spent bouncing between Gmail, Docs, and Drive much less tedious, and its AI does the multi-app heavy lifting for you. This is a logical extension of Google under the guise of expanding its reach. Yes, it will be an extremely helpful and useful set of workplace extensions, and I cannot wait to start using it.
Microsoft tried to do this with Copilot and Office. I feel its implementation is still far from ready. I think Google and its workspace suite have a much better chance of being not only successful but also useful. And Gemini is a solid AI contender. And now, based on your private content in emails and documents, it will supposedly have the context to do it better.
I’ll spend some time on this to see the real productivity gains. But again, I feel more confident in what Google can do than Microsoft. And I still don’t really see anything from Apple with its office suite. I don’t know the usage numbers on that. But maybe Siri and Apple Intelligence will help.
