Walmart’s $60 Onn 4K Pro Google TV Streamer Looks Like the Best Deal Left as Rivals Raise Prices

Summary

9to5Google reviewed Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro, a $60 Google TV box with 3GB of RAM, Ethernet, a full-size USB-A port, and a backlit remote with a remote-finder button. Performance is close to Google’s own streamer, which now costs $149. The cheaper $50 Onn 4K Plus drops the Ethernet and USB-A ports.

Why it matters

Streaming box prices have climbed across the board, with the Apple TV 4K now at $299 and the Roku Ultra at $150. A $60 box that does nearly the same job is an easy recommendation for a bedroom, a guest room, or a parent’s TV.

HTD Says

Everyone else raised prices on streaming boxes this year, and Walmart is selling a near-identical Google TV experience for $60, a still-reasonable price. I haven’t tested the Onn 4K Pro, but if you are shopping for another streaming device for an extra room or travel, it’s worth considering.

Its small size and USB-only power (which, if you are at a hotel, lets you plug it into a USB port on the back of a TV) definitely make it travel-worthy. My go-to has always been a small (and quite old) Amazon Firestick, or bringing my iPad with a super-long HDMI cable. The Onn might simply be easier.

Good luck finding one, though. As soon as deals or simply less-expensive devices hit the market, they are snapped up and backlogged immediately. I just checked Walmart online and at my local store, and it is listed as “Out of Stock.” Oh well.
