Texting an AI agent like a friend is where this is headed, and OpenAI just put it in the one app everyone already opens. Personally, I haven’t set up my Dot yet, as I’m deep into using Codex for most of my activities. As soon as this Tech Brief is published, I am going to get this done. Update: Welp, it looks like it is not available (yet) to Plus plans; it is only available to Pro and up.
What is interesting about this announcement is the integration with Apple Messages. This could conflict with what Siri Intelligence does (or maybe it could work together?).
At this point, I’m guessing consumers are getting overwhelmed or tired of all these “easy consumer agents” and will gravitate toward the one that can do the most for them in one place. This means AI companies will be racing to pack agents like Dots, Muse, and others with as many features as possible.
