Apple Is Reportedly Planning a HomeView Max With a 9-Inch Screen on a Robotic Arm

Summary

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports Apple is developing a higher-end HomeView with a 9-inch screen that rotates 360 degrees on a robotic arm. The current tabletop model has a fixed 7-inch display. Gurman expects the new model in 2027 or 2028, and the name is still a guess.

Why it matters

It signals that Apple sees HomeView as a product line, not a one-off. Anyone deciding whether to buy the first model should know a fancier version is coming.

HTD Says

Apple hasn’t even shipped the first HomeView, and rumors of a version with a screen on a robotic arm already suggest where this category is headed. I’m starting to get visions of the old iMac with a base and a monitor on an arm. Remember this?

While I haven’t seen any mockups of this, I’m also getting visions of a Pixar-esque scene where the HomeView Max pivots and talks to you via Siri. This could be an interesting device, but it really depends on how well the market adopts HomeView.

The next rumor is what it will be called: Max, Ultra, 360, or something completely different.
