Apple’s next Vision Pro is years away, and the real action is in smart glasses, where I would focus my attention. The Vision Pro has always felt like an experiment or a public skunkworks-type product. I got to test one at an Apple Store, and I have to say the technology is simply amazing. The price point is not.
Apple Glass is where I would put any betting money, and even that space is quickly evolving. Meta is pushing the envelope on this type of device, an all-microphone version or a vision-enabled version. Apple is most likely watching to see how this all develops. The critical thing will be figuring out how to integrate with Apple hardware and the ecosystem.
Just like the iPhone, Apple sat and watched the smartphone market develop for a year or two before launching. The same thing seems to be happening with the smart glasses. But all right already, let’s get something more concrete announced soon!
