Apple Music’s Selfie Sing Turns Any Song Into a Karaoke Video

Summary

iOS 27.3 adds Selfie Sing to Apple Music, which records a front-camera video while lyrics scroll on screen. After recording, you can add Megaphone, Echo, Concert Hall, or Studio vocal effects, then save it to Photos or share it. The camera option needs the iOS 27.3 beta for now, and not every song supports it.

Why it matters

It is a simple, kid-friendly feature that makes Apple Music more than a playlist app. Expect plenty of family karaoke clips once it’s publicly released.

HTD Says

Apple put a karaoke booth in my pocket, and I already know which kid will be recording the first video… all of them (even though they are in their 20s)! I haven’t tested this yet (I just installed iOS 27.3 dev beta), but I will soon. I love the idea, but it seems more personal than group-focused. If you turn this into something that brings people together like traditional Karaoke is designed to, it will be a winner.

This feature lets you “save and share” the recorded video once you add all the visual and audio effects. Remember, not all songs are supported (I’m assuming only songs with lyrics will work), but as this feature grows, more songs will be available.
