Google Releases AI Edge Foresight, a Mac Meeting Notes App That Runs Fully Offline

Summary

Google has released AI Edge Foresight, a Mac app that records and transcribes conversations, then generates notes and answers questions using an on-device Gemma 4 assistant. It shows shorthand notes alongside AI-written notes, and you can upload PDFs and Markdown files so the app can draw on them during meetings. It is optimized for Apple Silicon and can work offline.

Why it matters

Meeting note apps usually send your audio to the cloud. This one keeps it on your Mac, which matters if you record calls, interviews, or client conversations.

HTD Says

Google seems to have built a Granola competitor that never leaves your laptop, and for anyone who has hesitated to hand off call recordings to a cloud service, that is the whole pitch. I’ve just started playing with Foresight, and this could be a game-changer for people who don’t want to subscribe to services like Granola or other AI-driven meeting services.

It downloads a Google AI model locally for transcription and analysis. Yes, it does take up some space on your hard drive, but since everything is “local,” it is more private. One thing I quickly tested was whether I could import an audio file and transcribe it. The current version of Foresight doesn’t seem to support that (which would be an amazing nice-to-have). But you can record meetings in person or via an online service and then work from there.

I have the app pinned to my dock, so I’ll keep playing with it. But if you are a Mac user, this should be on your radar!
