OpenAI buying a slide deck startup is another piece of what is starting to look like a full productivity suite built around ChatGPT, and the question is how long before this shows up in the product for everyone. Claude has been pretty good at creating presentations. And Google’s Notebook LM did a fine job at crafting new presentations around a theme.
This is another example of innovation through acquisition. It’s understandable, especially as this is a race for all AI companies to leapfrog the competition. However, acquiring is one thing. Integrating technology, code, and people into an organization is both costly and time-consuming.
Since this particular acquisition happened a few months ago but only just announced recently, OpenAI is probably well down the road to getting something “integrated” out to market.
