This little tidbit was buried in the ChatGPT release notes from a couple of weeks ago. But since schools are coming back into session now, I thought it was interesting to share. The gist of the release is that ChatGPT just added interactive quizzes to every account, including free ones. If school has started for you or your family, this is worth a five-minute walkthrough with any student in your household.
I have always been a big advocate of using AI to learn more about any subject. And you can be pretty much any age and take advantage of this “personalized and patient” teacher or tutor. With good guardrails, guidance, and instructions, you can get informational overviews, get answers to specific topics, easily explore subtopics, and now practice your knowledge about the topic of your choosing.
Extending a traditional chat output into a quiz-like format makes sense. What OpenAI has done is simply put some structure to the potential output. Instead of just answering with text, it can respond with questions and “understand” the level of comprehension based on context, content, and subject matter. It’s a good step forward, and I expect similar learning solutions to come as well.
