Samsung watched Apple’s foldable iPhone launch last week and is now rethinking how quickly it needs to release the TriFold sequel, which says a lot about how well the iPhone Duo landed. Tri-fold? Seriously? I can just imagine the memes coming from this as multi-fold smartphones are “announced.”
“This smartphone folds twenty times down to the size of a thimble.” The engineering behind making a two-fold smartphone is staggering. Making it more than that is even more complex (and more things that could break). How about instead of leapfrogging the folds, they work on less-expensive models that are durable and work?
I do like the idea of bi-fold smartphones. That makes sense. But going beyond that just adds fragility and complexity to an already super-expensive device.
