Audiophile.fm Is a Free Hi-Res Music App With No Ads and No Subscription

Summary

Tom’s Guide highlights Audiophile.fm, a new hi-res music streaming app for iPhone and Android. It is free, ad-free, and requires no subscription.

Why it matters

With streaming prices climbing, a free hi-res option is worth a look for anyone with good headphones or a decent home audio setup

HTD Says

Free, ad-free, and hi-res sounds too good to be true for 2026, so test it with your best headphones before you trust it. As I write this, I’m streaming Blue Monday by New Order, and I’m really hoping Audiophile.fm has a good 80s alternative station. Just yesterday, I wrote about Spotify clamping down on their family plans and forcing “remote” family members to reauthenticate.

The interface is pretty basic and quite intuitive. You have a list of stations and the songs currently playing. It shows the audio quality (e.g., CD-Quality, Hi-Res), and the song you are streaming shows more details, like FLAC Lossless, 24-bit, stream speed, and album cover art. It has a built-in equalizer (but it depends on the browser you use, it doesn’t seem to work in Safari on my iPhone, so I’m guessing Chrome supports it). You can also open a song directly in a music platform.

You can like stations for easy playback later. And the search is pretty simple for keywords (I did find some 80s stations). I didn’t have to create an account or anything. And I’m encouraged to hear that artists still get paid. After digging through the FAQs, I found an iPhone app. Yay!
