Anthropic Opens a Waitlist for Claude Duet, an Agent That Sends a Morning Brief and Handles Tasks While You Sleep

Summary

Claude Duet is a new research-preview app that watches your connected apps, sends a short morning brief, and pings you only when something needs attention. It runs on its own virtual machine with a browser, so your phone or laptop does not have to stay on. It asks for approval before it sends, pays, signs, or deletes anything, and some actions, like moving money, are off-limits entirely.

Why it matters

This is Anthropic’s answer to Meta’s Muse, and it lands in the app you already pay for. There is no separate price, but background work counts against your Pro or Max usage limits.

HTD Says

A personal agent that reads your inbox overnight and hands you a brief with your coffee is exactly what I want to test, and I want to see how fast it eats up my usage limits before I tell anyone to rely on it. Well, it probably isn’t quite at the level of making my coffee, but I can probably find a connected coffee maker and send an agent to do that part.

I have been using Claude’s scheduled actions for a while to pull interesting tech news and turn it into Tech Briefs. And I have some other agentic actions that look at a Notion page for changes and then do analysis on those changes. I think Duet will be a cleaner implementation, so users won’t have to set up complicated triggers and actions.

Regardless, I have signed up for the research preview. Muse really stirred the waters, and now other big players are coming in to swim with the sharks.
