iOS 27.2 Gives Siri AI a Memory, Adds Five Languages, and Lets You Block Apps From It

Summary

Apple released iOS 27.2 and matching updates for iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, HomePod, and Vision Pro. Siri AI can now recall past chats, draw on photos in Messages, calendar invitees, and voicemails, and add French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. You can also exclude specific apps from Siri, and Photos can detect Google’s SynthID watermark on AI-made images.

Why it matters

The app exclusion setting is a real privacy control for anyone nervous about an assistant reading everything. Siri AI features require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, so older phones get only the smaller fixes.

HTD Says

This update lets Siri remember you, so take two minutes to check which apps you want it to avoid. Apple has been moving slowly in this AI race. They had a few false starts, went back to the drawing board, brought in a new partner (Google), downgraded others (OpenAI), and launched a bunch of hardware devices to make it run smarter.

While Apple has been a late entrant in devices, services, and software, they take their time to understand the market, integrate more tightly into their ecosystem, and “convince” us we can’t live without whatever service, device, or software they launch.

For me, the problem is that I’m already deep into using Codex, Claude, and Gemini. Adding Siri AI into the mix will make it more of a “fun thing to try” and help others who don’t go deep into other AI services. “Hey Siri! Teach me about your new skills and capabilities!”
