You have until August 30 to download any images you made through the DALL-E GPT in ChatGPT, because after that date, the tool disappears and the images go with it. This is yet another example of initial AI tools being tested, used, and discontinued or consolidated into other offerings. It makes sense to run product tests, but often at the consumer’s expense.
It is important to always remember that any service you use could disappear at any time for one reason or another. If you are risk-averse in any way, figure out ways to diversify what you use and do with these services. The fact that DALL-E GPT will remove the chat history is a bit harder. Downloading images is easy, but the context that went into creating them will be lost (unless you capture it by other means). That is intellectual property along with the resulting image.
If you use AI in any way, be sure to bake into your process a means to document everything. Yes, it may cost you additional tokens and usage, but having a repository of decisions you made along the way can be extremely helpful in the future.
