OpenAI just fixed one of the most common annoyances for anyone who juggles a personal and a work Google account in ChatGPT, and it is the kind of small update that makes a bigger difference than the headline suggests. This feature moves quickly beyond just convenience and almost into necessity.
I don’t believe you can use Google Gemini to search across multiple Gmail, Calendar, or Contact accounts, so it seems that OpenAI has leapfrogged Google (for now). It makes sense since this is just hooking in another external connector into ChatGPT. I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthropic launches something similar (if they haven’t already).
But as with any type of connection that contains private or personal data, be careful with which account you connect to AI. And I’m sure that for work accounts, the companies that own or manage those accounts may be a bit reluctant to allow you to connect those business accounts.
