There was some news that caught my eye yesterday. That of yet another breach, what people are calling a “MegaBreach.” And, another story of how some Android users of Twitter had their private Tweets actually public for over five years. Video Review: BenQ ScreenBar Plus e-Reading LED Lamp for Monitors [Updated]

In Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Review, Technology, Video by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

About a year ago, I did a review of the BenQ ScreenBar which is an LED lamp that attaches to the top of your computer monitor. Its unique design and ability to light up your desktop earned it 4.4 stars in my review. It was so nice, my wife threatened to take it from my desk. So, I reached out to BendQ and they kindly supplied me with their upgraded version, the BenQ ScreenBar Plus which, in my mind, is even better than the version I have. Your HDTV Isn’t Truly Great Until You Install Bias Lighting – The MediaLight 6500K Review

In Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Review, Technology by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

I’m going to let you in on a secret. You probably aren’t watching your TV in the best way possible. Read on, and I’ll explain, as well as talk about the MediaLight 6500K that I installed on my HDTV. (*Disclosure below.)

Review: Two Mophie Wireless Charging Solutions for Your New Smartphone

In Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Review, Technology by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

One of the biggest battles between my kids and me is around iPhone charging cables and how they seem to disappear magically. I have labeled them. I have hidden them. I have done almost everything apart from chaining them to a specific location. They seem to devour them like pasta. But times are changing. Newer smartphones now have wireless charging built into them, and I’m relishing the day when all of the smartphones in our home have wireless charging capabilities. I’m getting prepared as well by outfitting as many rooms as possible with wireless chargers. And, as luck would have it, I got my hands on two wireless charging products from Mophie, specifically, the Mophie Charge Stream Desk Stand and the Mophie Charge Stream Powerstation Wireless XL. August Smart Lock Pro Review – Integrates with your Old Deadbolt & other Smart Devices

In Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, General, Hardware, Review, Security, Smart Home, Technology by Michael SheehanLeave a Comment

When I first read about the August Smart Lock Pro, I thought, wow, why is that thing so darn bulky? It looks like a fat hockey puck stacked on your door. With circuitry so small and getting smaller these days, why was this smart lock so “big?” Well, there is a very logical and smart reason for this. It’s because of the built-in motor that retrofits your existing deadbolt to make the magic of remote locking and unlocking possible. Once I learned more about the August Smart Lock Pro, I figured out a perfect location for its use. And, because of a recently-announced integration with another smart device I have installed, the chosen location became even better. (*Disclosure below.)
