Google Workspace Now Lets Gemini Build Docs From Inside Gmail and Draft Emails From Inside Docs
Google rolled out five new agentic AI capabilities for Workspace this week, all designed to eliminate the constant tab-switching that defines most knowledge-worker days. From inside Gmail, Gemini can now build a fully formatted Google Doc from an email thread and its related Drive files without leaving the inbox. From inside Docs, it can draft and send an email summarizing the document using context from the file itself, written in the user’s typical voice. A broader orchestration mode lets users give Gemini a cross-app task from anywhere in Workspace and have it create the Sheets, Slides, or Docs needed to complete it. The rollout started September 2 and is reaching all Google Workspace accounts through mid-September.

macOS Golden Gate Ships Today, Ending Support for Every Intel Mac
macOS Golden Gate, Apple’s twenty-third major Mac operating system release, went live this morning alongside iOS 27. It is the first version of macOS built exclusively for Apple Silicon Macs, ending support for every Intel-based machine. The update still ships with Rosetta 2 so existing Intel-compiled apps can still run on M-series chips, but Golden Gate itself marks the final chapter of that transition. Key additions include the rebuilt Siri AI now available on Mac, cross-device improvements with iPhone, a redesigned Dynamic app grid, and across-the-board performance gains. The update is free for all M1 and later Macs.

Windows 11 Is Finally Getting Nine Bluetooth Fixes in One Update
Microsoft is rolling out preview update KB5124010 for Windows 11 with nine Bluetooth bug fixes. The fixes address audio crashes during Bluetooth streaming, a bug where Bluetooth could get disabled while the Settings toggle still showed it as on, and connection reporting errors with headsets and speakers. The volume control display for Bluetooth accessories is also fixed. The update is in the Insider Release Preview channel for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, with a stable release date not yet confirmed.

Google Killed the Pixel Tablet Without Much Fanfare
Google has discontinued the Pixel Tablet, removing it from the Google Store without any announcement. The device launched in 2023 with a built-in charging speaker dock and never got a second-generation follow-up. Google confirmed to 9to5Google that it has no successor planned, effectively exiting the consumer tablet space. Hub Mode on existing units remains supported.

iOS 27 Drops Monday: Here’s the Exact Time It Hits Your Phone
iOS 27 goes live on Monday, September 15, and Apple is rolling it out in waves starting at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT. That means East Coast users see it first, and international rollouts follow in order. The update brings Apple Intelligence upgrades, a redesigned Control Center, and the new customizable Home Screen grid. Two features previewed at WWDC, enhanced Siri context awareness and the collaborative Focus mode, were pulled from this release and will ship in a later update.

Universal Music and ElevenLabs Are Building a Licensed AI Remix Platform for Fans
Universal Music Group and ElevenLabs announced a multi-year deal on September 10 to build a dedicated platform where fans can create AI-assisted remixes, mashups, and reinterpretations of songs from artists who opt in. This is the first major-label AI music platform built on proactive licensing rather than litigation. The platform will launch as a separate product from ElevenLabs’ existing tools, with rights management built into the generation interface. Additional tools for artists and songwriters will roll out in phases. No launch date or pricing was announced.

iOS 27 Adds iPhone Handoff, Letting You Use Two iPhones on One Number
Apple is launching iPhone Handoff with iOS 27 on Monday, a feature that lets one phone number work across two iPhones at once. If you carry separate work and personal phones, or want the same number active on both your iPhone and your iPhone Duo, this lets you switch between them without call-routing hassle. Carrier support is required. T-Mobile is the first US carrier to support it, at $5 per month. Deutsche Telekom is the first international carrier. Other carriers have not announced timelines or pricing.

Two iOS 27 Features Are Not Shipping With Monday’s Update
Apple confirmed Friday that two Apple Intelligence features slated for iOS 27 will not be included in the September 14 release. Suggestions in Messages conversations, which surface one-tap action prompts based on what you are discussing, and the automatic compromised-password fix in the Passwords app will ship in a future iOS 27 update instead. Apple noted the delays on its iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate pages. Because iOS 27.1 must be ready before the iPhone Duo launches on October 23, these features could arrive as soon as that update.

iPhone 18 Pro Pre-Orders Open Tomorrow at 5 AM Pacific, Here Are the 10 New Features
Pre-orders for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max open Saturday, September 12 at 5 AM Pacific, with delivery and in-store availability starting September 18. MacRumors published a complete breakdown of the 10 confirmed new features, led by a variable aperture main camera with four settings from f/1.48 to f/4.0, giving users manual depth-of-field control for the first time on any iPhone. Both Pro models ship with the A20 Pro chip on a 2-nanometer process. Apple confirmed variable aperture on both the Pro and Pro Max, not just the higher-end model as earlier reports suggested.
